Moving home is one of the most stressful things you’ll ever do — up there with starting a new job or having a baby. We can’t take the emotional bit away, but we can absolutely take the practical bit away. Packing, lifting, driving, unloading, reassembling, taking the empty boxes back — that’s our job. You just unlock the door at the other end.

The Yellow Van Company has been moving London homeowners and renters since 2011. From one-bed flats in Battersea to four-bed houses in Wimbledon, our crews have done thousands of jobs across every borough.

How much does moving home in London cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the move, the access at both ends, the distance, and whether you want a full pack-and-move or just the muscle. Here’s a rough guide for London — we’ll always confirm an exact written quote before you commit.

Moving only (you pack, we shift)

If you’re happy to pack yourself, we just turn up, load the van, drive, and unload.

  • 1–2 bed flat: £250–£500
  • 3 bed house: £400–£700
  • 4+ bed house: £1,000+

*Prices for local London moves — longer distances quoted on request.

Full pack and move (our most popular option)

We do everything — pack, load, drive, unload, reassemble, and take the empty boxes away.

  • 1–2 bed flat: £900–£1,400
  • 3 bed house: £1,400–£1,900
  • 4+ bed house: £1,900+

*Prices for local London moves — longer distances quoted on request.

What changes the price of your London removal

Size, volume and access

Every house move quote we give is based on the actual volume of what’s moving — not just the number of bedrooms on paper. Top-floor flats, walk-ups and properties with heavy items like wardrobes, beds and white goods take more crew time, and we’ll factor that into your removals quote up front.

Timing — midweek is cheaper than month-end Fridays

Fridays at the end of the month are the busiest dates of the year for London removals firms — they book up weeks in advance and tend to be the priciest. If you have any flexibility, a midweek move in the middle of the month usually means better crew availability and a sharper quote.

What’s included in a full pack and move

Packing materials dropped off in advance

Boxes, tape, bubble wrap, mattress covers, wardrobe boxes for clothes on hangers. We drop everything off a few days before so you can start at your own pace if you want to — or just leave it for us on the day.

Professional packing, room by room

Our packers go through the house room by room. Kitchen first (the worst job), then bedrooms, then living spaces. Fragiles get wrapped properly. Everything gets labelled by room so unpacking is sane.

Dismantle and reassemble

Wardrobes that won’t fit through the door. Beds you bought at IKEA fifteen years ago. We dismantle, label the screws, transport, and reassemble at the new place — everything back in working order.

Careful loading, driving and unloading

Fully insured Goods in Transit. Floors and bannisters protected on the way out (and on the way in). Vans are loaded so things don’t move in transit.

Unpacking and empty box removal

If you want us to, we’ll unpack at the other end — cups in cupboards, books on shelves. Even if you don’t, we’ll always take the empty boxes back with us so you’re not left tripping over cardboard for a week.

Moving-only option

Rather pack yourself? No problem. Our moving-only service is the same Yellow Van crews and vans — you just handle the boxes.

Why London families choose Yellow Van for moving home

Family-run since 2011

You speak to the family, not a call centre. Direct line, sensible quotes, no surprises. Word-of-mouth is most of how we grow.

Eight branded yellow vans

Properly equipped Large Transit and Luton vans. The right vehicle for the size of your move — never more vehicles than you need, never less.

We know London

Thousands of moves across every London borough since 2011 — from period terraces in SW London to new-builds in the East. Whatever your property type and wherever you’re going, we’ve done it before.

Fully insured

Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover in place. Certificates available before you book if you’d like to see them.

Over 8,000 reviews, rated 4.9

Real London customers, real reviews across Google, TrustATrader and Trustpilot — with a 4.9-star average from more than 8,000 happy customers.

Honest, transparent quotes

Itemised written quotes that mean what they say. No “extras” appearing on moving day. If something genuinely changes (e.g. a lot more volume than you said), we will always keep you informed.

When third parties hold things up

Estate agents, solicitors, landlords and cleaners can sometimes hold a move up. We’ll do what we can to wait it out, but if our crew is held on site or has to return another day, additional charges may apply. We’ll always flag this up front — no surprises.
