Tips for selecting the correct amount of time.
Loading
Time yourself walking a box from your property to where the van will be parked. Multiply that time by the number of items that will need moving, allowing extra time for awkward and large Items.
Note: Typically, the more movers you book the less time the job will take, so if you are pushed for time, we advise to add a mover to the job.
Driving
Use Google maps to find the drive time from A to B. Be sure to consider rush hour traffic. The busiest times are 7.30 am - 9.30am and 5pm - 6.30pm. Add the drive time to the loading time, this is how long you need to book the job for.
Third Parties
Delays can be caused by you waiting for keys, contracts, solicitors, etc. If your move is part of a chain or you are waiting for contracts to be signed this can add time to your move, so be sure to talk to your agent or solicitor to anticipate any delays as you will be charged if you go over your booked time.
Dismantling & Reassembling
We will always move items in one piece if we can, but should you need us to, we can dismantle and reassemble them. If this applies to you, you will need to add extra time to cover this exercise and consider the complexity of the item. For example, a small chest of drawers will take a lot less time than a 5-door wardrobe.
Parking
The closer the van can park to your building the less time the job is likely to take. We highly recommend you pre-arrange parking to facilitate this otherwise we will park on a pay and display that you will need to pay for. We will not park anywhere we may get a ticket unless you are happy to pay upfront for the ticket. This is non refundable should we get a ticket or not.
